May 1, 2024, New York, NY—The American Jewish Congress applauds Governor Kathy Hochul for her leadership in calling for “accountability, whether that's disciplinary action from the school or from law enforcement,” which then led to the decisive actions that occurred last night at Columbia University. The situation at Columbia, as well as on other campuses across the nation, has spiraled out of control. In cases like this, it takes decisive leadership and a firm stance from elected leaders to make it clear that these events and behaviors are unacceptable and untenable.
