March 8, 2024, New York, NY – Hollywood’s silence on the murder of nearly 1,200 Jews during the October 7 terrorist attacks against Israel has been deafening. In particular, Hollywood’s silence on rape and sexual violence towards Israeli women has been especially painful. The American Jeiwsh Congress plans to highlight Hollywood’s hypocrisy through two impactful advertisements set to be released on X during the Oscar ceremonies this Sunday, March 10.
According to American Jewish Congress President Daniel Rosen, “The Academy Awards ceremony in Hollywood is an annual rite to celebrate achievements in film but also an opportunity for cinema’s elite to utilize its global platform as a voice of conscience. However, Hollywood’s silence on the atrocities committed by Hamas has been shameful, and we intend to call that out on Sunday if that continues to be the case.”
