June 13, 2021 - American Jewish Congress Congratulates Israel on Establishment of New Government

The American Jewish Congress warmly congratulates the State of Israel, America’s closest ally in the Middle East, for establishing a new unity government. Israel has once again proven that it is a remarkably strong and vibrant democracy, even more so when considering that the governing coalition will for the first time include a political party from Israel’s Arab population. This is not only a celebration of democracy, but also the clearest refutation to all the disgraceful accusations that Israel is an "apartheid" state.  Jack Rosen, President of American Jewish Congress, congratulated the new government:  “I congratulate incoming Prime Minister Naftali Bennett upon the…

May 26, 2021 - POLITICO: Rising antisemitism strains Democrats and GOP alike

Originally published in POLITICO. The rise of antisemitic incidents around the country this month has forced Democrats and Republicans alike into uncomfortable corners as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict hit a flashpoint. The recent violence in Gaza has been the backdrop for discriminatory attacks against Jews in multiple U.S. states, in addition to other cities around the world, that have highlighted the growing partisan divide in Washington over how best to achieve peace in the decadeslong war. On Thursday the Anti-Defamation League shared early reports of 193 antisemitic incidents in the U.S. amid a week of conflict in the Middle East, compared with 131…

May 24, 2021 - Senator Sanders asked about American Jewish Congress’s statements on Face the Nation

Some progressive lawmakers used the term "apartheid" to describe Israel's treatment of Palestinians. Our Executive Director Joel Rubin criticized the embrace of such language that fuels antisemitism. After being asked on Face the Nation about our American Jewish Congress's statement, Senator Bernie Sanders agreed that everyone "should tone down the rhetoric."   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt9kS7TykOE

May 12, 2021 - American Jewish Congress Condemns Terror Attacks Against Israeli Civilians

The American Jewish Congress condemns in the strongest possible terms the rocket attacks being conducted against Israeli civilians from the Gaza Strip by the terrorist organizations Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). Hamas and the PIJ are to blame for this dangerous and unprovoked aggression. We stand with Israel and strongly support its inherent right to defend itself and its citizens against these unprovoked attacks.  We therefore call on both the Biden Administration and the international community to assign clear blame for this violence onto these terrorist organizations while making every possible effort to deescalate the situation. These cynical attacks…

May 12, 2021 - Stand With Israel Against Terrorism

Israel is under fire. More than 4,000 rockets have been launched indiscriminately towards Israeli cities and towns. Fired from Gaza by Hamas and other Palestinian terror groups, these rockets have caused multiple fatalities and injuries. Israel has the right to defend itself and its citizens.

Through a letter to the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relationss, the American Jewish Congress is calling for the quick confirmation of Tony Blinken as the country's next Secretary of State. The American Jewish community is deeply focused on the state of America’s position in the world. A leading America means both a safe America for our citizens and for our allies, such as Israel. We believe that the President-elect deserves to have his core national security team on-board as soon as possible to manage multiple pressing issues. We believe that, due to his strong record of success and deep commitment to…

December 10, 2020 - American Jewish Congress Welcomes Morocco-Israel Normalization Agreement

The American Jewish Congress welcomes the normalization of ties between Morocco and Israel. Our President Jack Rosen has met King Mohammed before and found him to be open and welcoming. Morocco has been a strong partner for peace behind the scenes for decades. It’s now thrilling, on the first night of Hanukkah, to see Morocco step into the light to publicly embrace Israel. To all of our Moroccan Jewish friends, we thank you for building bridges over the years between America, Israel, and Morocco. May you cherish this new era of peace.

November 29, 2020 - NEW YORK POST: Jewish and pro-Israel groups angling to cement Trump gains

Originally published in New York Post. With President-elect Joe Biden just weeks away from moving into the White House, Jewish and pro-Israel groups are racing to nail down many of the gains from the Trump era — and are planning to aggressively lobby the new administration against any reversals. Most of all, leading US-Israel machers are looking to keep the US out of a new deal with Iran, or short of that — influence a future deal that corrects for what they say were many of the mistakes of the original. The 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, as the deal was…

November 23, 2020 - Statement of Support for Tony Blinken’s Nomination as Secretary of State

The American Jewish Congress congratulates President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris for their excellent choice of Tony Blinken to be the country’s next Secretary of State.  We have worked closely with Tony over the years on multiple issues, from advancing peace and security for Israel to confronting Iran’s destabilizing behavior in the Middle East to combating Antisemitism and all forms of hate. Tony has proven time and again his ability to advance the interests of the United States by brokering difficult diplomatic agreements on these issues while working across the aisle to secure them. Because of Tony's recent…

October 23, 2020 - American Jewish Congress hails the normalization of relations between Israel and Sudan

The American Jewish Congress hails the historic announcement that Sudan has agreed to end the state of war and normalize relations with Israel. Sudan becomes the third Arab state to become part of the Abraham Accords – following the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain - and the fifth Arab state overall to make peace with Israel. This is another triumph of dialogue and diplomacy. We congratulate Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Sudanese Chairman of the Sovereignty Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok for this decisive step towards peace. We thank President Donald Trump…
