[New York, NY – January 30th, 2022] American Jewish Congress President Jack Rosen continued this week his discussions with local leaders in Ukraine through an open and informative conversation with Vitali Klitschko, the Mayor of Kyiv. Mayor Klitschko expressed his sincere appreciation and thanked the United States for strongly supporting Ukraine.

Jack Rosen stated after his call with Mayor Klitschko:

It is very important for me personally, but also for everyone here in the United States, to learn directly from the Ukrainian leaders about the developing situation. I want to thank my friend Vitali for sharing his viewpoint at this delicate moment. Kyiv is not only the capital and largest city in Ukraine, but it is also where the largest Jewish community is concentrated in the country. I reiterated with Mayor Klitschko our hope that the situation will de-escalate and that both parties will engage with each other, with the facilitation and support of the United States and European allies, to find a diplomatic solution to the current crisis.”

Mayor Klitschko participated in 2019 at the International Mayors Conference, which the American Jewish Congress organizes annually in Israel. The call with Mayor Klitschko follows President Rosen’s video-call with Mayor Borys Filatov of Dnipro, another past participant of the conference.
