November 14, 2024, New York, NY – The leadership of the American Jewish Congress, including Daniel Rosen, President; Jack Rosen, Chairman; Dr. Munr Kazmir, Vice President; Dr. Ben Chouake, Secretary; and Michael Melnicke, Treasurer, released the following statement:

“The American Jewish Congress extends our congratulations to Senator Marco Rubio on his nomination by President-Elect Donald J. Trump as the next U.S. Secretary of State.

As a member of the U.S. Senate, Senator Rubio has demonstrated a deep commitment to advancing American values and strengthening our nation’s role on the global stage. Senator Rubio has been consistent in his support for Israel, the need to safeguard Israel’s security and its ability to defend itself, and the strategic importance of the U.S.-Israel alliance. We are confident that he will take this partnership to new heights, especially considering the shared challenges that both countries face in the Middle East region. At the same time, he has been unequivocal about challenging antisemitic hate, both domestically and at the international level.

A member of the Senate Committees on Appropriations, Foreign Relations, and Intelligence, Senator Rubio comes with extensive knowledge and deep understanding of the dynamics, threats, and opportunities in the Middle East. He has consistently recognized and condemned the destabilizing activities and hostile actions of Iran and its proxies against Israel and American interests in the region. We trust that as Secretary of State he will be determined to counter these threats while fostering peace and stability in the region.

The American Jewish Congress looks forward to working with Secretary Rubio to further advance, deepen, and strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship, bolster our partnerships, and uphold America’s core values on the international stage.”
