The American Jewish Congress extends our most sincere congratulations to our dear friend, and one of Israel’s most fervent public servants, Ambassador Ron Dermer, on his appointment as the next Minister of Strategic Affairs in Israel’s new government. For decades, Ambassador Dermer has answered the call to service in his pursuits to better the lives of many, and he will undoubtedly continue to impact millions for the better as he enters this new role.
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his decision to appoint Ambassador Dermer as Minister of Strategic Affairs. In doing so, the Prime Minister echoed the sentiments of leadership, wisdom, and unmatched resolve, that Ambassador Dermer is known to hold. During his time as Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Dermer was an incredible steward of some of Israel’s most vital needs through the US Congress – and served as a profound voice for Jewish Communities around the world. Furthermore, Ambassador Dermer also played a key role as one of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s closest advisors during his previous term, where he was involved in complex dealings surrounding secular and religious issues each and every day. With that said, Ambassador Dermer’s prior offices have granted him invaluable experience, and qualities that will be required to navigate the most pressing of challenges that lie ahead.

“I am both thrilled and comforted by the appointment of Ambassador Ron Dermer to serve as Israel’s Minister of Strategic Affairs. Few, whether in Washington, Israel, or even worldwide, recognize the importance of the US-Israel relationship as much as Ambassador Dermer. More so, he possesses the skills required to take that relationship even further. As Minister of Strategic Affairs, Ambassador Dermer will be a principal force in crafting necessary progress, and whether he be navigating the threats of a hostile Iran, or combating the abhorrent rise in antisemitism, the American Jewish Congress remains ready to assist his office however possible. We wish him much success and well wishes as he enters such an important and well-deserved role.”
