The American Jewish Congress had the privilege of hosting a special security briefing with former Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Israel, Yair Lapid.
To the hundreds of participants who joined us, Mr. Lapid put the war with Iran in remarkably clear terms. As he explained during the briefing:
“If the United States had an opportunity to kill Bin Laden before 9/11, would they do it? The answer, of course, is yes…And if somebody is standing in squares shouting ‘Death to America, death to Israel, death to the Jews,’ while developing nuclear weapons and a ballistic missile program, then you have to do something about it. This was not a war of choice. We had no other choice.”
Mr. Lapid discussed at length the surgical success of the joint efforts of the United States and Israel against Iran’s terror regime, the possible timelines for achieving the objectives at this stage, what could happen with Iran’s stockpiles of enriched uranium, and other key issues shaping this critical moment in the region. If you were unable to join us, you can watch the full briefing on our YouTube channel.
This briefing provided a unique opportunity to hear directly from one of Israel’s key political figures and most senior leaders at a moment of profound importance for Israel, the United States, and the broader international community.
At this volatile moment, the American Jewish Congress will continue to keep you informed and engaged by bringing the perspectives of key leaders, influencers, and decision-makers shaping events on the ground. Make sure to follow our accounts on Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, and LinkedIn for more updates and information on the latest developments.
We remain committed to advocating for the interests and security of the Jewish community while highlighting the enduring strength of the U.S.–Israel alliance—an alliance that not only safeguards the people of both nations but, as the joint efforts against Iran demonstrate, plays a decisive role in shaping a more secure world.
