February 28, 2025, New York, NY – While expectations were high for President Zelensky’s visit to the White House and his face-to-face meeting with President Trump, it is unfortunate that these expectations did not materialize. President Zelensky left the White House visibly upset following a tense discussion with President Trump. Many in the United States and around the world, including the American Jewish Congress, are concerned about where this situation may lead.

This is not just a bilateral disagreement—it is a matter that affects global security, with important repercussions for U.S. interests and other U.S. allies. The stakes are too high for a rift to derail efforts to secure peace and guarantee stability in Europe. Both President Trump and President Zelensky understand the gravity of the situation.

What happens in Ukraine and how this war concludes will have far-reaching consequences. The national interests of the United States and the security of Ukraine and Europe must not be sidelined by today’s disagreement at the White House. U.S. friends and foes alike are watching us at this pivotal moment.
