January 23, 2025, New York, NY – The American Jewish Congress commends President Trump for issuing two critical executive orders that hold significant importance for the American Jewish community and the State of Israel.

The first executive order empowers the United States to deny entry to or deport foreign nationals who support or assist terrorist organizations as designated by the U.S. Since October 7th, we have witnessed alarming expressions of support for Hamas and Hezbollah by anti-Israel and antisemitic student groups and others who falsely present these terrorist organizations as legitimate “liberation movements.” The world cannot allow violent and extremist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah to be normalized. A terrorist organization is a terrorist organization, and we congratulate President Trump for providing effective tools in dealing with foreigners promoting their agenda.

The second executive order reinstates the designation of the Houthis in Yemen as a global terrorist organization. For over a year, the Houthi terrorist group has launched deadly missiles loaded with thousands of tons of explosives targeting civilian populations in Israel, attacked and abducted maritime transport workers, disrupted international shipping lanes, posed grave threats to global security, etc. President Trump’s decision to return the Houthis to the U.S. list of terrorist organizations is an important step in combating their violent actions and reaffirming the commitment to global security and justice.

We thank President Trump for these decisive orders.
