November 21, 2024, New York, NY – Yesterday, the U.S. Senate delivered a resounding rejection of Senator Bernie Sanders’ misguided efforts to block critical arms sales to Israel. In a bipartisan vote, the Senate rejected radical anti-Israel proposals that threaten Israel’s security and reinforced America’s commitment to our ally during its existential fight against Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, and other terrorist organizations.

The arms in question—including tank rounds, mortars, and bomb guidance kits—are essential to Israel’s ability to defend itself, protect innocent civilians, and counter the terrorist threats that it is facing on multiple fronts. Attempts to deny these resources during a time of war are not only reckless but also wildly out of touch with the American people, who overwhelmingly stand with Israel.

While we appreciate the bipartisan opposition to Bernie Sanders’ resolutions, we find it deeply concerning and unconscionable that as many as 18 Members of the Senate voted in agreement with at least one of the three proposed anti-Israel measures. Policies like these alienate voters and undermine the Democratic Party’s standing as a supporter of Israel, defender of democracy, and opponent of terrorism. Thankfully, President Biden and the majority of Democrats understand what’s at stake, with his Administration taking a clear, pro-Israel stance to oppose the dangerous resolutions that came to the floor.

Yesterday’s vote is a victory for the values that bind Israel and America. Thank you to everyone who joined us in raising your voices and calling on the U.S. Senate to decisively reject Bernie Sanders’ proposals.
