September 20, 2024, New York, NY – The resurfaced comments by Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson, who is currently running to become the next Governor of North Carolina, are abhorrent. Remarks such as calling himself a ‘Black NAZI’ and expressing support for slavery, including saying, ‘Slavery is not bad. Some people need to be slaves. I wish they would bring it back,’ as reported by CNN, should be disqualifying for any candidate seeking public office in our country.
Lt. Gov. Robinson has previously expressed similarly disturbing views, including denying the Holocaust and downplaying the evil of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime. While these newly reported comments predate Robinson’s entry into politics, they reflect positions that are clearly antithetical to American values. With such views, he has no place representing the American people, and we call on all political leaders, regardless of affiliation, to condemn these deeply reprehensible statements.
