April 4, 2025, New York, NY — The failure of Senator Bernie Sanders’ deeply misguided resolutions targeting U.S. arms sales and security support to Israel is a powerful rejection of efforts to undermine our closest ally in the Middle East. Only a few months after similar anti-Israel measures by Senator Sanders were rejected, this new attempt to tie Israel’s hands as it defends itself from Iranian-backed terror has also been soundly defeated.

We applaud the strong bipartisan show of support for Israel in the United States Senate. At a time when Israel continues to fight for the release of the 59 hostages held in Gaza by the terror group Hamas, while facing continued, unprecedented threats from Hezbollah, the Houthis, and their sponsor Iran, this vote reaffirmed that the American commitment to Israel’s security remains unshakable and above partisan politics.

Jewish constituents should know the names of their elected officials who supported Senator Sanders’ latest resolutions and voted in a deeply disappointing way: Sens. Andy Kim (D-NJ), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Ed Markey (D-MA), Tina Smith (D-MN), Brian Schatz (D-HI), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Martin Heinrich (D-NM), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Chris Murphy (D-CT), Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM), Peter Welch (D-VT), and Tim Kaine (D-VA).

While it is disturbing that 14 Senate Democrats aligned with Senator Sanders’ dangerous push to block critical U.S. aid to Israel, the overwhelming majority of senators, Democrats and Republicans alike, made clear that America will not abandon Israel in its hour of need. It is also important to note that these latest anti-Israel resolutions received even less support than those Senator Sanders introduced in November 2024, when 18 Democratic Senators voted in alignment with him.

We thank all our supporters who joined our campaign and called on their elected representatives to stand with Israel and vote against Bernie Sanders’ reckless anti-Israel measures.
