New York – As the United States engages Iran in diplomatic talks, the American Jewish Congress (AJCongress) cautions that diplomacy must be judged by outcomes, not optics.

“Iran is engaging not because it has abandoned the policies that destabilized the region and brutalized its own people, but because it is under sustained pressure,” said AJCongress President Daniel Rosen. “Agreements that relieve that pressure without changing behavior risk postponing, rather than preventing, future crises. We therefore support President Trump’s maximum-pressure policy on Iran and advise caution against deals that play into the regime’s hands.”

AJCongress emphasized that Iran’s missile programs, terrorist proxies, and repression at home cannot be treated as secondary issues. Regional partners, while supportive of U.S. diplomacy, remain deeply skeptical of Tehran’s intentions.

“Diplomacy has value when it advances security, accountability, and dignity, especially for the Iranian people,” the organization said.

AJCongress outlined its full assessment and recommendations in a detailed explainer on its website:
