Jon Husted, born in 1967, is a U.S. Senator from Ohio, having assumed office on January 3, 2025.
Husted was appointed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine to serve the remainder of the mandate for the seat vacated by J.D. Vance following his election as Vice President. Prior to his Senate tenure, Husted served as Ohio’s Lieutenant Governor from 2019 to 2025, Secretary of State from 2011 to 2019, and as Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives.
In the Senate, Husted serves on the Foreign Relations Committee and the Armed Services Committee.β

Senator Husted has been critical of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), commonly known as the Iran Nuclear Deal. In 2025, he supported the Enhanced Iran Sanctions Act, aiming to expand and strengthen U.S. sanctions against Iran’s energy exports.
When serving as Ohio’s Lieutenant Governor, Husted lauded the state agencies βfor firmly and professionally dispersing the anti-Israel demonstration at Ohio State University.β
