Cynthia Lummis was born in 1954 and is currently representing Wyoming in the U.S. Senate. She successfully ran to replace retiring Senator Mike Enzi in 2020 and her seat will be up for election in 2026.
Cynthia Lummis served as the U.S. Representative for Wyoming’s at-large congressional district from 2009 to 2017. In 2016, she did not seek reelection. Prior to that, she served as a member of the Wyoming House of Representatives from 1979 to 1983 and from 1985 to 1993.
From 1993 to 1995, Lummis represented the fifth district in the Wyoming Senate. She also served as the 27th Treasurer of Wyoming from 1999 to 2007. Lummis is an attorney by profession. After receiving her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wyoming in 1985, she clerked for the Wyoming Supreme Court.

As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Lummis opposed the nuclear agreement with Iran. She believed that the deal was “egregious” and would “lead to a nuclear-armed Iran.” Former Rep. Lummis called the deal a “historic mistake.”
Senator Lummis has stated that she opposes the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement targeting Israel.
As a U.S. Representative, Lummis supported legislation to further U.S.-Israel cooperation on security and trade, including the U.S.-Israel Strategic Partnership Act of 2014. She voted for legislation that aimed to assist Israel with the procurement, maintenance and sustainment of the Iron Dome Short Range Artillery Rocket Defense System for intercepting short-range rockets and missiles.
Senator Lummis has voted in support of legislation that provided funding to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system.
