Mark Kelly was born in 1964 and is currently representing Arizona in the U.S. Senate since 2020. He was reelected in 2022 and the seat will be up for election in 2028.
Mark Kelly is a former astronaut and U.S. Navy captain. Kelly became a naval aviator in 1987 and received training on the A-6E Intruder attack aircraft. He flew combat missions during the Gulf War. In 1996, he was selected as a NASA space shuttle pilot and he flew missions between 2001 and 2011.
Kelly retired from the U.S. Navy and NASA in 2011. He is married to former U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords. Together they founded the non-profit and super PAC Americans for Responsible Solutions, focused on gun control advocacy. The organization merged in 2016 with the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence to become Giffords.
He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary.

Senator Kelly opposed the withdrawal of the United States from the nuclear deal with Iran calling it a “rather poor decision”, and he believes that another administration should try “to get back to a deal with the Iranians by working with our international partners and our allies.”
Mark Kelly supports the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and believes that it is important for the United States to continue to work with Israel towards peace in the Middle East.
