Bernie Moreno, born in 1967, is a U.S. Senator from Ohio, having assumed office on January 3, 2025.

A Colombian-American entrepreneur, Moreno built a successful career in the automotive and blockchain industries before entering politics. He won the 2024 Senate race, defeating incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown.

In the Senate, Moreno serves on several committees, including the Committee on Foreign Relations;  the Committee on Armed Services; and the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.

Senator Moreno has publicly expressed support for Israel. In February 2025, he hosted 12 Israeli orphans who lost their parents in the October 7, 2023, Hamas terror attacks, stating, “Today will send a message that the Republican Senate Conference will always stand with Israel and stand ready to assist them eradicate Hamas.”

In 2025, Senator Moreno co-sponsored the Antisemitism Awareness Act, which directs the Department of Education to consider the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) definition of antisemitism when investigating discrimination complaints.

Moreno supports continued U.S. security assistance to Israel. He has emphasized the strategic partnership between the two nations and the importance of Israel’s security in Middle Eastern stability.

Senator Moreno has been critical of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), commonly known as the Iran Nuclear Deal. He believes the deal is ineffective in preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons and supported the U.S. to withdrawal from the agreement.
