[New York, NY – November 15th, 2021] Michael Flynn’s statements are both unacceptable and anti-American. As he calls for only “one religion” in America, Flynn is rejecting the vision of our nation’s founders, who embraced pluralism. His view threatens to turn America back to the same type of sectarianism that inspired America’s earliest arrivals to flee Europe and settle here.
By promoting a bigoted worldview that fosters tribalism and hatred, Flynn, who has earlier embraced the antisemitic and violent QAnon conspiracy theory, is directly permeating antisemitism and fueling hate against all religious groups.
Such dangerous rhetoric runs counter to American values and threatens the foundations of our democracy. These cringeworthy comments and views must be forcefully repudiated and condemned by all. We certainly do, here at the American Jewish Congress.
