American Jewish Congress Statement on upcoming UNESCO Jerusalem vote

Thursday, April 27, 2017 - 12:36pm

President of the American Jewish Congress Jack Rosen issued the following statement in response to UNESCO's latest decision to vote next Tuesday on a resolution rejecting Iseaeli sovereignty over greater Jerusalem:

“UNESCO latest efforts to rewrite Jewish history and completely deny any religious significance of the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron and Rachel’s Tomb in Bethlehem is extraordinary. That it then goes further and attacks Israel for the killing of children in Gaza while not commenting on the violence that Israel endures only serves to increase instability in the region.

“Rather than ensuring that Judaism is preserved, time and again this organisation votes on anti-Semitic resolutions and seeks to undermine Israel. It has lost all credibility. I therefore welcome President Tump’s intervention on this matter and hope that he will be successful in stopping this motion from passing.”
