American Jewish Congress Statement on Parliamentarian Elections in Macedonia

American Jewish Congress President Jack Rosen and Vice President Dr. Munr Kazmir released the following statement:

“The American Jewish Congress congratulates Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and his party, VMRO DPMNE, for their victory in the recent December parliamentary elections in Macedonia. We appreciate the reports by ODIHR, as well as other international observers, that the elections were free, fair and democratic.

“The AJCongress hopes Prime Minister Gruevski and his party will continue with its cooperative programs with the Jewish community in Macedonia as well as Jews around the world. We also hope the excellent relations between Macedonia and Israel on political, economic, diplomatic and security issues will continue.

“AJCongress President, Jack Rosen, met with Prime Minister Gruevski earlier this year in New York to discuss the building of the Museum of the Holocaust in Skopje as well as founding of the fund of the holocaust. The AJCongress hopes the elections will open new opportunities for Macedonia and we look forward to closer cooperation with Prime Minister Gruevski and the Government of the Republic of Macedonia.”
