American Jewish Congress President Jack Rosen issued the following statement in response to the massive devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew:

“The American Jewish Congress extends its deepest sympathies to all those affected by Hurricane Matthew. The category-four storm severely impacted the Republic of Haiti, taking the lives of 1000 people. Villages and towns have been completely decimated. 60,000 people are living in temporary shelters and at least 1.4 million people await much needed assistance.

“The AJCongress strongly supports robust and immediate relief efforts, urging the international community to act expeditiously, as the UN Security General calls for a ‘massive response’ to help Haiti recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew.”
